Brushcreek Motorsports Complex Set to Kick Off 07' Season on Saturday May 5
By: Mike Ross
(Peebles, Ohio) After a long off season, the smell of race fuel and the roar of race engines will once again fill the air at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex on Saturday May 5th. The speed plant is slated to officially kick off the season with a regular race program of late models, modifieds, chevettes, trophy 4 cylinders, legends and go karts.
Long known for it's unique shape and blistering speeds, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex underwent a face lift for the 07’ season. Following the final checkered flag of the 06' season the track crew began preparing a new track for the 07’ season, cutting the 3/8 mile speed plant down to a 1/3 mile oval. The new track will retain the original 70' wide front straightaway, with a 55'-60' backstretch now skirting just outside the infield scoreboard.
While the regular season opener is slated for May 5, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex held their annual test & tune on April 21, allowing drivers to turn their first laps on the new 1/3 mile oval. Following the test & tune session drivers stated they felt the changes were in the right direction, but felt some width needed to be added to turn two. With the response from the competitors, Brushcreek Motorsports crew has added 25' to the turn. In addition to the width they also added some additional banking in the corner.
"It's a drastic change from the past years track shape & size. We listened to the fans and drivers and felt that this would provide everyone with a more competitive track,” stated Tom Partin.
Along with the reconfiguration of the old 3/8th mile tri-oval, Brushcreek Motorsports crew also spent the off season constructing a new go kart track on the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex grounds. The new go cart track is located adjacent to the general admission parking area and will run on the same nights as the big track.
