Fields, Johnson, Grooms, Keatzel, Nichols, & Partin Conquer Brushcreek

(Peebles, Ohio) As the overcast Saturday afternoon skies faded into the night, the racing action heated on the high banks of Brushckreek Motorsports Complex.Flemingsburg, Kentucky's Arnie Fields drove the A&L Homes, Darrell Fannin Trucking, Shamrock BP, Graphic Creations, Fleming Auto Parts, Rocket Chassis to the late model feature win. Parkersburg, West Virginia's Kenny Johnson drove the Racers mate, American Race Tires, Last Lap Performance, DRS (****son Race Shocks), McPeek's Auto Glass, Hassy Chassis to the modified feature win. West Union, Ohio's Taylor Grooms drove his RHK Motors, G&F Trailer Transport, State Farm Insurance Chevette to the Chevette/4 cylinder feature win. Sardinia, Ohio's Mark Kaetzel drove his B&M Wrecker Service sponsored bomber to the feature win. While Peebles, Ohio's Matt Nichols took the 4 cylinder trophy dash win in his Nichols Farms 4 cylinder and Peebles Ohio's Tom Partin took the Legends feature win.
Peebles, Ohio's Terry Smart and Goshen Ohio's Brian Arnet brought the late model field to the green. Terry Smart jumped out to the early lead with Brian Arnet in tow. The field would be slowed on lap two when the 00 of Brian Day spun in turn one. The second caution quickly waved when Bill Toedter spun his #23t Rayburn chassis on the restart. On the second attempt at the restart, fifth starting Arnie Fields found the high side to his liking, rocketing to second place. Now in second Fields began pressuring Smart until the action was slowed with a lap four caution, when Dave Jamison slowed on the back stretch in front of Dan Hurt. On the restart, Arnie Fields made the move on the high side to take the lead, but it would be short lived when Brian Arnet spun coming out of turn four, collecting Dave Jamsion and Dan Hurt. Reverting back to the previous lap Terry Smart was credited with the race lead. Hurt and Arnet would continue, but Dave Jamison went pit side with a flat tire. On the restart, Smart pulled to a slight lead with Fields in tow. Fields continued to pressure Smart until the action was slowed on lap six when John Yazell, Jr. tagged the turn four wall. On the restart, Smart continued to hold a slight advantage over Fields. Fields continued to pressure Smart until the action was slowed with a caution on lap six when Brian Arnet spun in turn two. On the restart, Fields took the lead and held off Terry Smart over the final laps to pick up the feature win. Following Fields and Smart across the line were Brian Arnet, Dan Hurt, and Brian Day rounding out the top five.
Prichard West Virginia's Jason Perry and Parkersburg West Virginia's Kenny Johnson brought the modified feature field to the green. Kenny Johnson jumped out to the early lead over Ed Eshmann and Davey Warnock. Pole sitter Jason Perry suffered mechanical problems and took his #20 Tomahawk chassis pit side during the early laps. Johnson continued to hold the advantage over Eshmann and Warnock, until the action was slowed with a lap five caution when Johnothon Day spun coming out of turn four. On the restart Johnson gained a slight advantage over Eshmann and was able to hold him off over the final laps to pick up the feature win. Following Johnson and Eshmann across the line were Brian Whiteman, Jeremy Scott, and Dave Jamison.
West Union Ohio's Taylor Grooms and Peebles Ohio's Matt Nichols brought the chevette/4 cylinder feature field to the green. Grooms jumped out to the lead over Nichols and Randy Johnson. Grooms began to stretch his lead as Johnson and Nichols battled for second. By the half way mark Grooms had worked to a half track lead over the second place battle. Grooms cruised to the feature win. Following Grooms across the line were Randy Johnson, Matt Nichols, Gary Rowland, and Chris Vance.
Manchester Ohio's Matt Edmisten and Sardinia Ohio's Mark Keatzel brought the bomber feature field to the green. Keatzel jumped out to the early lead over Edmisten. Edmisten would apply pressure to Keatzel as the two front runners began to pull away from the field. Mounting a charge Edmisten pulled to the rear bomber of Keatzel but couldn't make the move around him. Holding of the early charge of Edmisten, Keatzel began to pull away of the final few laps to pick up his second straight bomber feature win. Following Keatzel across the line were Matt Edmisten, John Rolling, Chris Hodgson, and Shane Murray rounding out the top five.
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex will hold it's first annual Mud Sling on Friday June 29. Mud runs, truck tug-a-war, and hill climb will be on the card that night. The Little Creek Karting Complex will also be in action on Friday June 29. Admission for the mud sling will be $5 and $10 entry fees. There will be no racing Saturday June 30.
Tuesday July 3 Brushcreek Motorsports Complex will return to action with the firstorm/faster pastor race. A full racing program of late models, modifieds, chevette / 4 cylinders, Bombers, trophy 4 cylinders, and Legends, plus the faster pastor race and a huge fireworks show will be on the card that night.
