WORLD OF OUTLAW UPDATE
Being the owner and track promoter of Brushcreek Motorsports Complex I feel that the World of Outlaws Late Model series featuring their top 12 drivers is a great thing, and is going to be an even greater thing in the future. However, maybe it could be a little better.
There have been so many rumors of why the WOO series isn’t coming to Brushcreek, I decided our fans should hear the real story. As soon as I heard about the 12 drivers and the WOO series, we got busy trying to schedule a date Brushcreek Motorsports Complex. What a great show that would be on the high banks of BMC. My first intentions were to schedule them for Saturday of the Labor Day weekend. PRP had wanted to schedule them for Sunday of the same weekend. As I was getting everything set we were advised by the World of Outlaws to meet in Florida at the Promoters Work Shop to sign the contract, but I couldn’t get anyone to let us sign.
The next day I was informed that a track would need three tentative dates to schedule from if September 4th was one of those dates. The WOO promoters were sure I would understand since our original date was sold. They could give us June 5th, this would be the week before the Dream in Eldora. I was very disappointed but knowing that we are the smaller fish trying to get the big fish to the "Creek" I wanted to do everything in my power to schedule a date. I said we would take the June 5th date, but must check other tracks schedules. After leaving Florida I called PRP and found that they are running the MACS on June 5th, not wanting to compete with PRP for race fans, I would try the next date of June 19th, but it was too much tow time and work for the World of Outlaws late model series to come to Brushcreek Motorsports Complex that weekend.
I have called the WOO promoters almost every day, and I would be safe to say Bobby Jackson, Director of Company is tired of my calls. Needless to say, I am very disappointed not to have the WOO series at BMC this year. However, I won’t give up, and with any luck the World of Outlaws "Dirty Dozen" will be racing at Brushcreek in 2005.
So, that’s the whole story. It’s not because of the sanction group, it’s not the tire rule, and it’s not because of the TV dates. I want the "Dirty Dozen" and I know the fans want them too. However, we are looking forward to the PRP World of Outlaw show. See you there!
