Brushcreek Motorsports Complex Sixth Annual American Heritage Weekend Set For August 4th and 5th
Peebles, OH- Known for its blistering speeds and Harley give-a-ways, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex has seen the American Heritage Weekend grow in popularity since its inception in 2001. The sixth annual American Heritage Weekend will kick off Friday August 4th with the OK Auto Parts Night Before the Heritage; the prelude to the 6th annual American Heritage 101, presented by Coca-Cola and Bob Malcom's Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep on Saturday August 5th.
Always one of the much anticipated events in the southern Ohio area, the annual American Heritage Weekend at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex attracts many enthusiastic fans and drivers, with the hopes of taking home a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle. The winning late model driver at the 2006 American Heritage 101 will take home a brand new glacier white pearl, American Heritage Harley Davidson motorcycle for his efforts. The American Heritage 101 was a 101 lap race for the first 3 years, but was shortened to 58 laps in 2004, in memory of Jake McCane. Jake McCane was a partner of Brushcreek Motorsports Complex and a major force behind The American Heritage 101 , who was 58 when he suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on May 9, 2004
"The Real Deal" Don O'Neal of Martinsville, Indiana claimed the inaugural American Heritage 101 in 2001, while driving for "The Undertaker" Thomas Ware. Although, Don has the inaugural American Heritage 101 title on his impressive racing resume, he doesn't have the American Heritage Harley Davidson. As part of his driving agreement the motorcycle went home to Cynthiana, Kentucky with Thomas Ware.
In 2002 Grayson, Kentucky's Jackie Boggs claimed his first American Heritage 101 title. Jackie would later trade the American Heritage Harley Davidson to Bob Cropper of Cropper race engines.
"The Flood Wall Flyer" Mike Balzano of Parkersburg, West Virginia claimed the American Heritage 101 title in 2003. Balzano grabbed the early lead but suffered a flat while under caution at the midway point of the race. Balzano pitted to change the flat tire and charged back to the lead, holding off Delmas Conley to claim the 3rd Annual American Heritage 101. Having bought a 100th anniversary Harley Davidson Soft Tail Duece a few month earlier, Mike would sell the 100th anniversary American Heritage Harley Davidson he won at Brushcreek.
In 2004, Jackie Boggs became the first repeat winner of the American Heritage 101. The hard charging second generation driver from Grayson, Kentucky started the weekend off Friday night by dominating a field that included a strong contingency of drivers representing six states including, Delaware, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to claim the Ok Auto Parts Night Before the Heritage. Boggs returned the next night to claim his second American Heritage 101 title, holding off Randall Chupp, Rod Conley, Robbie Blair and John "Weasel" Rhodes.
In 2005, thirty-eight drivers representing seven states including, Delaware, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia competed with the hopes of claiming the American Heritage 101 title. Jackie Boggs claimed the victory by .626 seconds over Robbie Blair, Delmas Conley, Rod Conley, and Tim Dohm.
This years Harley give-a-ways will mark the 10th & 11th Harley given away at Brushcreek since the inception of The American Heritage 101. Thus far fans from Franklin, OH, Peebles, OH, Manchester, OH, and Georgetown, OH have claimed a Harley Davidson Sportster.
