Jamison, Gross, Edmisten and Partin Conquer Brushcreek Motorsports Complex
By Mike Ross
(Peebles, Ohio) As the warm Saturday afternoon faded into the cool spring night the racing action heated up on the 1/3 mile speed plant. Jenera, Ohio's Clint Jamison drove his Marshall Campbell Race Engines, North Star Drilling, Central Star Drilling Swartz late model to the feature win. Two time Brushcreek Motorsports Complex modified track champion, Mike Gross drove his Central Star Drilling, Smart Mart, Bob Pierce modified to the feature win. Manchester, Ohio's Tommy Edmisten drove the D&R Engineering, Xtreme Graphic Design, Community Fuels, York Racing, Big Daddy Racing Chevette to his first Brushcreek Motorsports Complex feature win. Tom Partin claimed the trophy 4 cylinder dash and the Legends feature. Andrew McCane qualified for the spectator rookie of the year finals to be held on August, 18th.
Jenera, Ohio's Clint Jamison and Bethel, Ohio's Joel Ortberg brought the late model feature field to the green. Jamison powered to the early lead followed closely by Joel Ortberg, Brian Arnet and Darran Kattine. Over the next two circuits, Jamison built on his lead as the trio of Ortberg, Arnet, and Kattine battled for second. As front runner Jamison stretched his lead, Brian Arnet and Darran Kattine finally slid by Ortberg on lap three. Now in second Arnet set his eyes on Jamison, who by now had built a sizable lead over the trio. Jamison continued to stretch his lead until he was slowed by lapped traffic on lap ten, allowing Arnet to cut into the sizable lead he had gained during the first half of the race. Once Jamison disposed of the lapped cars he once again began to pull away from Arnet and cruised to his first Brushcreek Motorsports Complex feature win. Following Jamison across the line was Brian Arnet, Darran Kattine, Terry Smart, and Joel Ortberg rounding out the top five.
Manchester, Ohio's Darren Dryden and Peebles, Ohio's Mike Gross brought the modified feature field to the green. Mike Gross jumped out to the early lead over Dave Jamison and Darren Dryden. However, the field would quickly by slowed when the 19 of Dave Kirker spun in turn two bringing the field back to a complete restart. On the restart, Gross once again jumped out to the lead over Jamison and Dryden, but the field would quickly be slowed when the 23 of Tommy Riggs slowed to a stop on the back stretch with a flat tire. On the third attempt to get the modified feature underway, the 93 of Ty Mitchell would spin in turn four bringing the caution out again. On the restart, Mike Gross shot to the lead with Dave Jamison in tow. The two set a blistering pace until they began lapping cars on lap seven. With the two front runners slowed slightly by lapped traffic, third running Darren Dryden would close in on Dave Jamison. Just as Dryden made his move under the D4 of Jamison, the field would be slowed with a caution when Chad Taylor spun in turn four. On the restart, front runner Gross would receive heavy pressure from Dave Jamison. Gross would maintain the advantage over Jamison as the two began to pull away from the field. Jamison continued to pressure Gross to no avail, when the field was slowed again on lap thirteen when Ty Mitchell spun to the infield. On the restart, Jamison again applied pressure to front runner Gross, but Gross would hold off Jamison over the final two laps to pick up the feature win. Following Gross across the line was Dave Jamison, Darren Dryden, Dave Kirker, and Davey Warnock rounding out the top five.
Manchester Ohio's, Tommy Edmisten and Winchester, Ohio's Rodney Roark brought the chevette/4cylinder feature field to the green. Edmisten jumped out to the early lead over Roy Cooper, Rodney Roark, and Tom Partin. Edimsten built a huge lead as the trio of Rodney Roark, Tom Partin and Kent Knoblauch battled for second. The field would be slowed on lap four with a caution, when Roy Cooper slowed to a stop on the back stretch. On the restart, Edmisten once again powered out to a sizable lead and cruised to the feature win. Following Edmisten across the line was Kent Knoblauch, Tom Partin, Roy Cooper, and Rodney Roark.
