CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Hyped as one of the biggest national racing events of
the year, and certainly K-C's banner event for sprint cars, "The Ohio
Challenge" featuring the World of Outlaw sprints and The All-Star Circuit of
Champions sprint cars has been set for May 14 at Chillicothe, Ohio's K-C
Raceway.
Track owner/promoter Jim Nier said, "As soon as we announced this race,
the phone started ringing off the hook. Drivers, race teams, and fans have
wanted to know the details. This race has certainly generated some
excitement around here. As a promoter, I am excited to have the World of
Outlaws and All-Stars on the same racing card. We have promoted several big
races at K-C, but this one may be the biggest race so far. It is going to be
a huge event."
Boundless Motorsports, who purchased the World of Outlaws last season
will bring their guaranteed posse of drivers, dubbed by the series as the
"Mean 15". Members of the "Mean 15" are Craig Dollansky, 19-time champion
Steve Kinser and son Kraig Kinser, Californian Tim Kaeding, Mark Kinser,
cousin to the reigning champion Steve Kinser; Danny Lasoski, Paul McMahan,
Jason Meyers, Brian Paulus, Daryn Pittman, Joey Saldana, Donny Schatz, Tim
Shaffer, Jason Sides, and Brandon Wimmer.
All Star drivers like Chad Kemenah, Danny Smith, Greg Wilson, Jeremy
Campbell, Brock Mayes, Kenny Jacobs, Paul May, Phil Gressman, Bill Rose,
Barry Ruble, Dean Jacobs, Dale Blaney, Jac Haudenschild, Cody Geldart, Mike
Brecht, Mike Lutz, Tony Elliott and Randy Hannagan should also be in
attendance. Ohio drivers like Byron Reed, Lee Jacobs, Nick Naber, Keith
Baxter, Mike Hogan, Mark Imler, Butch Schroeder, Dave Dickson, Adam
Strausser, Jimmy Stinson, Ron Blair, and Eddie Slone will also be up to the
challenge.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Series has represented the best of dirt track
sprint car racing since 1978. This season will be no different.
But the All-Star Circuit of Champions may dispute the Outlaws claim. Now
in their 26th season of competition, the Haulmark.com All Star Circuit of
Champions is one of the most competitive dirt track sprint car racing series
in the country. Over the past 26 seasons, 1332 races have been run with 146
different drivers making appearances in victory lane.
The "Best of Both Worlds" in open wheel sprint car racing will go head
for the first in Ohio on the K-C high banks.
