Only 22 Late Model's showed up for a $7,000 to win show. I tell you, those Goodyears are killing Xtreme. When the Stacker 2 series come's in July, I wouldn't expect to many more car's then what came out Saturday. I bet you that Willard probably had more Late Models then K-C did and Willard was paying $1,500 to win!! With a Late Model turnout like that, I'm not going to pay the $32.00 general admission price for the Stacker 2 race in July. I'll probably go to PRP that night and they'll probably have more Late Models!!!

I agree! This could very well be the first & last year for the Nothern Xtreme Series since they have implemented the Goodyear tire rule. If you have looked at their schedule about half of the Northern races are co-sanctioned with the Stacker 2 series, that will be the only thing keeping this series around. The tire rule drives away all of the local guys that run at KC, and other tracks around the area, that usually make up a part of the starting field. Some of the small local teams just can't afford to buy those tires. At Brown County Speedway Satuday night we had 19 Late Models and we were paying $900 to win! Not to bad considering the 22 that showed up at KC for $7,000

Yes it was AWFUL!! The only locals were Aaron Bapst and Bret Foster and I heard Aaron was paid a fee to try and get some local fans!! The racing sucked after about 20 laps and the tires were done and there were so many flats it was crazy!! Nier definitely hurt the locals by bringing in the Northern Xtreme and XTREME series when he should have gone WOO and MACS!! It was weird being at KC and not seeing Delams at a sanctioned show there or at least rod or RJ!! The STACKER2 Series suck until they go with an open tire rule!!See you all at PRP for the MACS race if the water ever goes down RJ7171C71R P.S.The Conleys Rock and so does the DSP!!!

I don't get the tire thing. We love goodyears. Best our car ever handled. Not so long ago you couldn't pay a guy to run anything but a goodyear. Then Hoosier came along and literally gave their tires away to get people to run them and then just low balled Goodyear on price. Goodyear being the power house it is stayed their ground and didn't lower prices to compete. Figured their superior quality would out last the Hoosier. But Hoosier is a fine tire too, so it didn't work out like they planned. It is about money for the tracks amd these series. Quite frankly Hoosier won't give us the best deal anymore. So most series are going with Goodyear now. The roles have reversed. Danged if I'd stay home though. As long as everybody else has to use the same tire too, the $7000 spends the same no matter what my tires say on them. Its still a fair competition and that's what rules are supposed to provide. My question is would they like a little cheese with that whine? Bankrupting your series isn't going to help. When your boss man is in a contract he has to ride it out till the contract expires like it or not. I am sure they got a very good deal from Goodyear and didn't intend to cause such as ruckuss when they entered the deal. Hoosier wouldn't even talk to us. Goodyear treated us like royalty. They probably done the Extreme people the same way.

So why not have an open tire rule but limit the compunds a driver can run on Hoosier and American Racer. Take the compounds equal to the 4 or whatever Goodyear has and give the drivers a choice. From what I hear the Goodyears are good only on short runs that is why Donnie Moran will use Hoosiers in the features when he is not competeing in the Extreme. Same for Davey Johnson but he bolts on AR. That should tell you the quality of Goodyears right there.

Most of the time a tire company, includung Hoosier, signs you to a contact that you will get their tires for whatever % discount as long as you only run their tires. If you run another tire you will be sued for breech of contract that's why they don't do the open tire rule. As for us we run LLM. We never ever buy new tires. We get our tires used from the LM guys. We only run 20 laps maybe 30 in a big $$ race. So as far as how Goodyears do on long runs I don't know. They work good on our car used. We run whatever we can get, I have hoosiers, goodyears, AR, and Mccrearys. But I can tell you this, when I commit to a series or a track I am in for the long haul. Even when I don't like something I don't stay home. My money comes from my series or my track making money. I am not going to try to shut down my money line. I may say hey man these tires suck. But I am gonna run them long as everybody else has to run them too. The tire brand makes no difference to me. I am not married to any of them. I'll say hey boss man don't renew that contract when it's up. This ain't working for me. But hurting your series or track financially especially at a time when things aren't so great anyway is a good way to end up without a big paying series or track whichever the case may be. I am just more loyal than that. I guess 10 years in the Army made me that way. When I agree to support you I will either be victorious with you or we'll die fighting side by side one or the other. Think of it this way, what if Dale Earnhart Jr. or Tony Stewart or any other Nextel star stayed home or raced somewhere else because he didn't like the tire Goodyear brought? All the Conleys are just to good of drivers to do that. Those guys could race with anybody no matter what the tire rule was. Truth of the matter is you could probably put Delmas on bologna rinds and he'd still run with the best of them.
