Christy has good weekend with Battle of Bluegrass
By: T. J. Layne
VANCEBURG, KY-The Easter weekend saw Team Christy take their LYCO Fuels #c7 Late Model to the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for a two day show with the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series. The first show, on Friday, April, 14th, saw Kenny and team race for the $3,000 prize and on Saturday, April 15th, race for the $5,000 winners money in the Spring 50.
On Friday night, Kenny transferred into the thirty lap feature race via a win in one of the two B-Main events after coming only one spot short of transferring in his heat race, against some of the toughest competition in the country. In the feature, Kenny kept the car out of trouble and came home with a 22nd place finish against the 58 Late Models in attendance.
Saturday night saw Kenny transfer into the fifty lap feature by getting an impressive second place finish in his heat race behind Wisconsin driver Dan Schlieper. The second place finish would also give the team a good starting position in the main event. In the feature, Kenny again, kept his car out of trouble and finished a solid seventeenth. All together, the Battle of Bluegrass weekend at Florence was a success as Team Christy made both feature events, which is impressive in itself considering the tough competition.
This weekend will see Team Christy Racing make an appearance at the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio for their season opener on Saturday night, April 22, which pays $2,000 to the winner. With a much better weather forecast, hopefully the fourth time will be the charm in trying to get the K-C season underway. For more information on this event, visit www.kc-raceway.com.
Team Christy Racing would also like to thank all of our sponsors which include LYCO Fuels, Pendleton Truck Sales, Williamson Automotive, Cropper Racing Engines, and A-1 Auto Glass.
