$10,000 Points Fund for the Suddenlink AMRA King of the Mountains!
March 16, 2008, Apple Grove, WV. ~ “The Suddenlink AMRA King of the Mountains Weekly Racing Series points fund has crested the $10,000 mark already for 2008“, reported Series Director and Founder, Rocky Estep. “Support for the series is growing faster than we ever imagined.”
In 2007, the fledgling series paid out an unprecedented $6650 in cash accompanied by over $10,000 in contingencies, which included a Rayburn Chassis and a ticket to the Dale McDowell Dirt Strategy Seminars, to the top 12 Steel Block Late Model drivers in the Ohio Valley and Appalachian region. Never in the history of our region has the Steel Block Late Model class received such honors.
In 2008 those numbers have already been trumped and an additional $50,000 plus in possible contingencies has been added. The top 20 Steel Block Late Model drivers in the region will receive over $10,000 in cash awards while the top 30 will receive contingency awards. In addition, each of the 4 KoM sanctioned track’s Champions will also receive a $250 cash bonus.
The Suddenlink AMRA KoM WRS National Champion will again be crowned “King of the Mountains” while each sanctioned track champ will be “Knighted” and receive an actual “Knight’s sword.” This is a tradition we will continue annually.
“We are very excited about the phenomenal growth of the series ” explained Director of Finance, Shon Parsons. “There are no words to explain how proud we are of our drivers and tracks nor how happy we are to bring them these rewards. There will be even more announcements as we move forward and details are confirmed.”
Arguably the most innovative series in the history of our region has doubled in size since it’s inception in 2007, with 4 weekly sanctioned tracks and events scheduled at one additional. KoM will host events at 5 of WV’s 7 currently active dirt tracks.
