I was reading over the UMTS forum and ran across the post wizard made with the alot of bad words littered through out the post, I edited the post and sent him the following PM:
I had to take out all the cussing in the post you made on the board about UMTS, there is no need to that type of language, kids read these post just as much as adults do and I don't want the message board to be the place the kids hear or learn this type of talk.
All I ask is you respect not only the person whom you are talking to or about, but also respect the people that read the post as well, many religious people like racing too and like to read about their favorite tracks and drivers and I am sure they would take offense to the language used and not return.
So while you opinion is always welcome and your point was a excellent one, the language you used took away some of the focus from your point and probably some people quit reading it because of the wording.
This board is new it is building a good reputation, and following from racefans in the Southern Ohio Area, it is important that we do what we can to be respectful in our post in a way that would not offend anyone that might read it, be it a kid who is just getting interested in racing or a older person who has been racing and attending races for several years, the board needs to appeal to everyone and gain the people respect. Thats the goal of the board, and any posts that is offensive in wording or meaning will be deleted or edited.
I hope you understand and thanks for the support of the board.
We are going to earn the respect of the race fans and drivers of Southern Ohio we have to keep the board respectable for anyone who wants to read it. It is OK to edit a post Wizard's post was excellent in the meaning behind it, and by changing the bad words to something that is not bad, but with the same meaning it made it sound even better and more on target.
Wizards harsh language is a violation of the Message Board rules we have to enforce here is the rule he violated:
2.) Please do not post material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar hateful, harassing, obscene, profane sexually oriented, threatening, copyrighted, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise a violation of ANY LAW! This is not humorous and legal actions can be taken against you.
Usually things like this can be handled by editing them, but sometimes it just so bad they have to be deleted, if you all don't want to do this let me know and I will handle it, the problem is I will not be able to catch all the things on here thats why I need your help to keep the board respectable and build it to where a board where Southern Ohio Race fans can check things about the racing in the area without all the obscene and harassing post you find on 4m.net and some of the other boards. That is what will set this board apart is the monitoring and the enforcing of the rules in keeping the board respectable.
If you find something that is wrong fix it, or let me know and I will also let the person that posted it know you edited the post or deleted it and explain why that way they will know and probably won't do it again and will respect the fact you was up front and honest with them and know we will enforce the rules of the board in the future.
So keep a look out and take care of the board, its really more yours than it is mine because you all attend races in the area almost every week, I don't.
Hope you understand what I am trying to say and don't think I am mad because I am not, because I know from the wording on some of the other post that you all are catching bad post deleting some post that should be deleted or editing post that you can I just want to make this board as good and popular as the Easy KY board is because I think the race fans in Southern Ohio need a place to talk about dirt racing in the area, and I hope they will appreciate what we are doing and use this board as a place to talk about racing in the area.
Keep up the good work, without you all this board would not be here because the past couple weeks its been wild with the East KY Board and getting ready for HMS and at work. You all are doing a wonderful job, but just wanted to bring this up to be on the lookout for things like this as well
