Hate to complain, but a $1,000 to win? Heck when I was a kid back in the early 90's they had $3,000 to win Mod specials with qualifying. Just imagine the cars they would get for a real Modified shootout. Some kind of $3,000 to win, $250 to start show would be nice.

it's because p.r.p. really don't give a poopy about the support classes, they only have this show just to throw the mod class a bone...roger w. davis funeral home is the sponsor so they're probably paying the $1,000 so prp isn't really out anything...it was made clear over the fourth of july weekend, running mods both nights, charging the extra $ for pit pass and running them for the regular purse....they are the most greedy track in the tri state and the most unappreciative track for the class of cars they get and the car count...they do the same crap every year and the cars still show, so nuttin will ever change, because they make a bundle off the big late model shows and that's all they care about.. ;D

As of what I've heard, Rocky Top Raceway is working on a $3,000 to win Modified race.

Do you guys remember those $5,000 to win mod races at Southern back in the mid 90's. Granted the purse was really nose heavy but I remember some pretty big names being out there. Tony Dehart's first night in a modified was one of these shows in October of I think 95. I remember Jack Hewitt was there in the B1CAR modified and he missed the show there were like 65 cars there that night. Eddie Carrier Jr. won and Kirk Isner ran second.
